Windmills are becoming a common sight here on the prairie. As we search for cleaner sources of energy, the wind turbine is taking the place of the smokestack. I love old Dutch landscape painters (Rembrandt, for example) and how they incorporated their country's industries into their compositions. Holland relied heavily on wind power to mill grain and if you look closely at those old paintings, there are windmills everywhere! A modern take on an old idea.
Part of a series of woodcuts exploring the industrial landscape on the prairie.
